Karl Enns

Winkler, Manitoba, Canada

Biography: Karl is an MK (Missionary Kid/Messed-up Kid) from Brazil. He consideres himself culturally schizophrenic…neither Brazilian, nor Canadian… yet both. After gaduating from highschool in Brazil he returned to Canada where he pursued a teaching degree. However, before entering the workforce as a teacher his church snagged him up and he served as youth pastor for 5 years. Through this experience he discovered a new-found love for youth ministry and leadership development. Karl is co-founder and co-director of Canadian Youth Worker; an organization bent on supporting, resourcing and training youth workers in Canada. He is also passionate about photography, international cuisine (cooking and eating) and travel (especially taking youth and young adults on cross-cultural experiences). Most importantly his favorite movie is the LOTR Trilogy (if you don’t know what that is, then it won’t really make much difference to you). He and his wife, Kim, live in Winkler, Manitoba where she works as an ER nurse and Karl also works as a substitute teacher in the school division; they have no kids... yet. Topics: 1. Cross-cultural ministry (working with immigrants and other 3rd culture youth, taking youth/young adults on mission trips, helping MK's adapt to Canada, dealing with cultural differences in your community, church and youth group) 2. Mission Trips: Using mission trips as a leadership development tool, how to setup a mission trip and prepare youth for that experience (Karl also coordinates/leads mission trip, especially to the Amazon in Brazil where he grew up, if it fits into his schedule). 3. Media: Using media/movies to teach scripture 4. Church-Youth Pastor relationships: Dealing with struggle, tension and adversity between church and youth ministry 5. Youth Retreats: Speaking to groups of youth on various topics (work with the youth leader on the specific topic) Travel: anywhere in Canada
