Phil is a well known Atlantic gospel singer / songwriter. January 2008 saw the release of Phil’s second gospel CD, entitled “The Road.” Like his first album, "Family Treasure," the songs are all written and performed by Phil, and reflect the reality of today's Christian life. The style is broadly Southern Gospel and ranges from solos to three and four part close harmony with a variety of tempos and messages ranging from confession and re-assurance, to praise.Over the last fifteen years Phil has been honing his song-writing skills and refining his style in a journey to becoming what he likes to think of as a ‘songsmith.’ The word, for him, evokes the memory of a metal smith at a forge, hammering away at his creation until it is fit for the use he envisioned – whether that is a horse shoe custom-made to fit the hoof or a door hinge to allow the door to his shop to open and close smoothly. Phil says, “My songs are my creation, my forge is a piano.”
